About Drop the mask productions

Our Ethos

Connectivity

We build meaningful relationships, sharing the philosophy at every opportunity. To expand our dream to change the face of the business community for the better.

Honesty

Perfection is overrated so we don’t pretend to be perfect; we communicate openly with everyone, never over promising and never under delivering.

Authenticity

We celebrate differences as nobody should feel like an actor in their own life story. We’re all unique and when put together we fit, we link and all play a part in building the DTMP jigsaw.

Safety

We create safe, inclusive employment opportunities by removing the barriers for those with physical and mental health disabilities. This through embedding compassionate and non-judgemental practices.

Empowerment

We create space for everyone to reach their full potential  where there are no silly ideas or mistakes; just opportunities to be creative, learn and to grow into the best version of ourselves.

Drop the Mask – Our dream is to change the world of business for the better.

To that end, we reach out at every opportunity to share our vision of non-judgemental practice and inclusivity. And to build meaningful relationships with our clients and our partner organisations.

We are honest with ourselves and with our clients. Understanding our abilities and embracing our imperfections. This means that we will never over-sell, over-promise or under-deliver. And our clients can rest assured that we will always communicate openly about the scope and remit of our services.

We believe in unity in diversity. In a world without masks, no one should be made to feel the pressure of playing a part to please someone else, or to fit in. Our differences make us special, enrich the group and deserve to be celebrated.

It is our mission to create safe and inclusive environments for our employees.

We strive to remove barriers for those struggling with physical or mental health, by listening and adapting to their needs. At Drop the Mask , health and wellbeing are paramount. And we will always do our upmost to make sure that everyone feels safe and fulfilled.

We believe in enabling everyone to grow and express themselves. At Drop the Mask there are no silly ideas, no mistakes. Just opportunities to learn, be creative, grow into the best versions of ourselves, and have a little fun along the way.

Greg's Story

The History of Drop the Mask

To look at the success of the business now, it’s incredible to think about where I was just a few years ago.

From a very young age, I have suffered with severe mental illness, particularly Dissociation Disorder. For me, disassociating is almost like creating another world in your own mind, a world where I felt safe away from the chaos of life. However, this created huge challenges in other areas of my life, particularly in building relationships with other people. Two decades of addictive behaviour and damaging habits also meant I was unable to follow traditional education routes, and never realised my full potential as a young adult. So, at 35 years of age I decided I wanted change. I took myself to recovery and started on my journey back to health.

In 2003 I completed my A-levels equivalent in the Republic of Ireland in just one year, and I graduated with a Biogeographical Degree in 2007. Even whilst making huge progress, each day continued to be a challenge. Four years later in 2011, I returned to the UK with the aim of facing up to my mental illness head on. After reaching out for professional help, I eventually felt well enough to start my part time master’s degree in Digital Media Practice at Winchester University.

Armed with a 2:1 degree and on my way to getting my master’s, I thought that landing a job would be simple enough. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. I was faced with more barriers and hurdles, all due to my past. What now? With £0 in the bank and having a drive to make sure I was able to help others with severe mental health break barriers in finding employment, I decided to create my own employment and set up my own company – Drop the Mask Productions CIC.

Not only did I want to create something I could be proud of, I also wanted to provide a place where people could thrive, regardless of their past or conditions.

Fast forward three years and here we are now in 2022, a team of incredible individuals, each with their own story of turning their struggles into their superpowers.

For anyone who can relate to where I was a few years ago, my advice is this:

  • Spend time to find a person or a mentor that believes in you, and supports you to see things in a positive way.
  • Realise you are always good enough; all your emotions and feelings are valid.
  • Find a job or start a company where you feel part of a family/team that care about and put people first.

Each of us will experience our own set of struggles, but it’s what you can do with it that truly matters. We will continue to break barriers, both in employment and in technology, and play our part in ensuring both are accessible to all.

UPDATE 2023

I obtained an MA in digital Media Practice in April 2023.

It was a longer process than I expected. But that is usually what happens with me.

I am happy that someone like me can do things a bit different, but can get the results like others can too.

March 2024

DTMP was bought by Gregory White as a sole trader as IT and Media unmasked.
